When We Are Closed
‘Talk Before You Walk’ when your GP practice is closed
Patients across Durham Dales, Easington and Sedgefield have been reminded to ‘Talk Before You Walk’ when in need of care when their GP practice is closed.
By phoning NHS 111, patients who need to be seen urgently on the same day will be offered an appointment with a healthcare professional either at their own GP surgery or at another surgery nearby called a Primary Care Service or a hub.
Primary Care Services are available across the area.
Out-of-hours service is provided by NHS111.
Please make proper use of the night/weekend service. Remember you can always see a doctor in the next surgery, so try to restrict night and weekend calls to genuine emergencies that cannot wait until the next day.
The service is used from 18:00 until 08:00 the following day. At weekends cover will be from 18:00 Friday until 08:00 Monday.
If there is any delay in responding to an absolute emergency, you are instructed to dial 999 and ask for the Ambulance Service.
To contact Out-of-Hours Service when the surgery is closed, please telephone:
111
Your needs will be assessed and advice offered or arrangements made for you to see a doctor.
Please visit South Durham Health for more information
Please do not ask to see a doctor out of hours unless you genuinely cannot wait until the surgery re-opens.
Call 999 in an emergency.
